7 ways you can take care of your body & mind during the winter months... ❄️
Tip #1 - 8 hours of sleep 😴 Rest
This is so important for the recovery of your body and mind, this is when your body is replenishing itself, so you feel well rested and ready to take on the day!
Tip #2 - 2L of water per day minimum 💧 Hydrate
Staying hydrated in winter can be harder as it's easier not to drink as much water as in summer. Plus, being in the heating for a lot of the day, can dry out our skin and eyes, so our water intake helps with this.
Tip #3 - 2 x dog walks a day 🐕 Movement
This gets me outside for my vitamin D, even if it is cloudy! Being outside is great for mental health, and I also get my steps in too!
Tip #4 - Workout 💪🏼 Exercise
Do something you enjoy! A class, yoga, a weights program, go for a run. Anything that makes you feel good and gets the body moving and heart pumping!
Tip #5 - Mobility & stretching 🏋🏻♀️ Recovery
This is really helping my muscles release tension and recover faster.
A stretch is perfect if you are stuck at a desk all day!
Tip #6 - Fruit & vegetables 🍓 Nutrients
Getting in all the nutrients my body needs, being conscious of making sure I get a selection of various fruits and veggies per day. This will help to beat the sluggish feeling too.
Tip #7 - Maintenance calories 🍫 Mental Clarity
I find it hard to diet in winter, and we shouldn’t be dieting for a long period anyway. So I’m eating at my maintenance calories at the moment, to be strong in my workouts, sleep more soundly, and enjoy the winter months!
Remember Winter can be tough on your body...
Cold and dark days can be very unmotivating, listen to your body and ask yourself what do you need today? Stay positive and warmer days will be back with us soon!
